Fans of microbrewery beers are invited to circle the dates June 7-9 on their calendars. That weekend, the 8th edition of the Festi-Bières du Suroît will be held in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield's Delpha-Sauvé Park.

Over 200 products will be on display to satisfy everyone's thirst. Microbreweries, distilleries and non-alcoholic products will be on hand, promises the organizing committee.

On Wednesday, April 10, the directors of the Association pour les personnes ayant une déficience intellectuelle du Suroît (APDIS) unveiled the details of this annual fundraising event.

" We're very happy because it's been almost a year to the day since the Défi-Logis project was launched in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The results of the first year are more than positive. The aim of the project is to promote the autonomy of people living with an intellectual disability or autism, by enabling them to live in a place that is safe and adapted to their needs. Our residents are very happy with it, and we're taking steps to set up a second housing building. In fact, I'm due to meet Mayor Lemieux on the subject. The initiative really meets a need in our community," confided Christine Bellavance, President of APDIS.

A new identity for the brewing event

The renowned brewing event will be presented this year by B Martel Construction. With 56 days to go, the event's organizing committee unveiled its new visual identity, created by Zel. The new, modern logo represents dynamism, communion and festivities, as well as the very nature of the event.

The brewing event will offer three days of entertainment, taste discoveries and conviviality. Beer lovers will have the opportunity to sample a wide selection of Quebec craft beers.

A beer created especially for the Festi-Bières

As for the last 7 editions, visitors interested in discovering the beer created especially for the Festi-Bières by Ferme brasserie Schoune of Saint-Polycarpe can visit the company's booth.

" We're delighted to continue our association with the Festi-Bières du Suroît by creating an eighth beer especially for the occasion. This year, it will be Death Samouraï, a very fruity IPA with a slight bitterness and aromas of grapefruit and passion fruit. We'll be producing 3,000 liters, and after the event it will be distributed through our usual distribution network. It's sure to please everyone, and goes well with sushi, paella and grilled meats, all of which will be available at Festi-BIères ," Patrice Schoune told Néomédia.

Some thirty exhibitors on site and more

In all, some 30 companies from the region and beyond will be taking part in the Festi-Bières du Suroît.A full list of participating companies will be announced at a later date.
