Solar eclipse: many eyes will be on the sky this Monday
On Monday April 8, a solar eclipse is scheduled to take place in the Quebec sky. According to expert forecasts, just before 3:30 p.m., part of Vaudreuil-Soulanges will be plunged into darkness for a few minutes. The subject inspired last week's survey question.
Did you know that the next eclipse visible from Quebec will take place in 2048? However, a lunar eclipse will be observed in 2025, when the Earth will be aligned between the Sun and Moon.
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon lies between the Earth and the Sun, and the Sun is completely hidden for a short period of time. It can be dangerous to look at it with the naked eye without protective glasses.
According to the "Éclipse Québec" platform, at around 3:25 p.m. on April 8, part of Vaudreuil-Soulanges will be plunged into darkness for a few minutes.
Some municipalities, such as Sainte-Marthe, Rigaud Très-Saint-Rédempteur, Sainte-Justine-de-Newton and Hudson, will experience a partial eclipse instead.
This week's poll question was: Solar eclipse: are you planning to observe it on April 8?
The answer choices were:
- Yes, I've bought approved glasses to do so: 46.7%;
- Yes, I will modify my work schedule for the occasion: 13.3%;
- Yes, but I'll watch it on the Internet: 13.3%;
- Yes, we'll watch it as a family: 6.7%;
- No, I'd like to, but I can't: 20%.
