Fire in Sainte-Marthe: cause of blaze still unknown
The cause of the fire that gutted a farm building used to store various items located on a residential lot on chemin Saint-Guillaume in Sainte-Marthe at the end of March is still undetermined.
This was confirmed by Patrice Lavergne, Director of the Sainte-Marthe Fire Department, to Néomédia on Wednesday, April 3. According to Lavergne, the criminal theory will not be given priority in this case. Investigations are still underway to understand the causes and circumstances of the blaze.
At the time of the incident, Mr. Lavergne told Néomédia: "When the first firefighters arrived, the blaze was widespread. We worked in defensive mode, which prevented the fire from spreading to another building nearby. We had to call in water tankers from neighboring municipalities, as there are no hydrants in the area."
Crews from Saint-Clet, Hudson, Saint-Lazare, Sainte-Justine-de-Newton and Pincourt were called in to support the Sainte-Marthe firefighters.
